Molecule Monday: Huperzine

Happy #moleculemonday! Huperzine A is an all natural nootropic molecule that is commonly found in many top selling cognitive enhancement products. It works by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is responsible for not only cognitive function and learning, but also muscle contraction. Huperzine A has data that is as good as or better than current Rx drugs tacrine and rivastigmine, all while having better oral bioavailability and can cross the BBB more effectively. Data has also show it to be neuroprotective against glutamate and peroxide induced damage. Huperzine A works well with other nootropic compounds, as well as adding a choline source such as DMAE, alpha GPC, or CDP-choline. Huperzine A is part of the #dustextreme formula to increase focus, and ease the onset/crash of heavy stims like DMAA and high doses of caffeine. As you guys know, I am a big fan of mixing nootropics and stims for the ultimate performance enhancement experience.
